It’s a beautiful thing to hold our kids close. In fact if you don’t they may be difficult to thrive.
To each their own and you only have one chance to be the best Steward your little one needs.
There is a time to hold close and there is a time to correct while holding close. Correction at times can be a demonstration of your love. We as adults are very well aware that life is full of consequences. One of the most difficult things for some of us to do is correct.
I will withhold instruction on the how to but do it with love. Stay away from correction in: anger, disgust, hatred, jealousy, scornfulness, absence, vengeance, and fear.
Our children need our correction to avoid or minimize correction from those that don’t hold our feelings for our children. Correction at home quickens the spirit and places right in their heart so that when they grow old, it will cover them from the traps.
Correction at home that’s done with love can serve as a route for your child to be praised for their character and add to their blessings. That character may aid in placing them in leadership and giving them a staying power once they arrive. It may also play a major role in their relationships even the big ones like marriage and family. Further, the guidance they receive full of knowledge, understanding and wisdom in the home will follow them air creating their own atmosphere in any environment.
Words in context.
Correction –
“To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.”
Proverbs 12:1 NLT
“A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to listen to correction.”
Proverbs 13:1 NLT
“Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.”
Proverbs 15:5 NLT
Love –
“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
1 Corinthians 13:3-7 NLT
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.”
1 John 4:7 NLT
