Relate the lesson you are trying to teach to the things that excite. Tell it in a story. This will show and increase your level of understanding of the topic as well.
Be knowledge about the things that excite them. This would make it so much easier to connect to the things you are knowable about.
Show them how they can accomplish that thing. Strategize a few possible routes to their goal.
Praise the gifts that you see in them associated with the thing or task. More praise is needed but specifically our kids need more targeted praise about who they are and that who they are currently is good enough.
Show them how the gift they pocess can be valuable to others and themselves.
